Central Asia Debate and Media camp: photography showcase 2

More highlights from the work produced by the students, activists and citizen journalists attending the second Central Asian Youth in the 21st Century Debate and Media camp.

Evgeniya Shcherbakova and Gulnigori Behruz went into the foothills of the Tian Shan mountains to visit the home of a fox hunter. The hunter sells pelts to wealthy tourists from Russia during the summer and supplements his income by keeping bees.

Ahmad Fardeen and Bakhytgul Amanzholkyzy visited a Soviet-era sanatorium on the shore of Lake Issyk-Kul. Currently run as a health spa, the sanatorium continues to take in guests who want to sample to medicinal properties of Lake Issy-Kul's water.

Altynai Mambetova and Aigul Kazhenova produced a series of photographs that document the life of a former Imam. Blinded by a rare genetic disorder, the Imam lives in Bosteri with his wife and five children, three of whom also suffer from the same condition.
